Sheep Brain Dissection
Comparing a human and Sheep Brain
Many schools throughout the world, including many research universities, lack the funds to be able to use human cadavers to teach Anatomy and Physiology. So when it comes to learning about the brain, the closest that comes to a human brain is the sheep's brain. In teaching high school Biology, the sheep brain has become an efficient and a much cheaper solution in learning the anatomy and functions of the brain. Although, the size is many times smaller, it resembles a miniature version of a human brain. The parts, locations, and functions are the same, providing students a deeper insight about how our wonderful brain works. The sheep brain also becomes a valuable visual tool to better understand Anatomy and Physiology. There is a small difference in the position of the brain in a sheep's skulls due to the erect position of human's head. Other than that everything is almost the same.
